Abandoned Dog Rescued and Adopted by Police After Being Left in Park

In a touching story of compassion, an abandoned dog left in a park in Bloomington, Indiana, found a new home thanks to the kindness of Sheriff Jeff Ripley. The pit bull and boxer mix, later named Daisy, was discovered alone and injured by a concerned citizen.

Sheriff Ripley responded to the call and immediately felt a connection with Daisy. He contacted his fiancé, Rosie Ahlberg, a volunteer with the City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control, for help. Recognizing that the shelter was closed, Jeff and Rosie decided to bring Daisy home for the night.

The next morning, Daisy was taken to a veterinarian who discovered she had significant injuries that required surgery, along with emotional trauma. Despite efforts to contact Daisy’s owners, they declined to take responsibility for her.

Moved by Daisy’s plight and their own experiences rescuing animals, Jeff and Rosie decided to adopt her. They provided Daisy with the necessary medical care and a loving home where she could recover and thrive.

As Daisy adjusted to her new life, she began to heal both physically and emotionally, thanks to the care and affection of her new family. Her future, once uncertain, now looks bright with the support of her compassionate adoptive parents.

Daisy’s rescue and adoption highlight the impact of kindness and the difference one person can make in an animal’s life. Her journey from abandonment to a loving home underscores the power of compassion and the potential for transformation.

Please share Daisy’s story to spread awareness of the difference that kindness and responsible pet ownership can make.
