People often comment on how his eyes seem wise or soulful. He has a very expressive face—he even reacts with a look of disgust when I paint my nails and he catches the scent of the polish,” shared Tiffany Ngo, Nori’s owner, in a recent interview.

Nori lives with owners Kevin Hurless and Tiffany Ngo and has gained attention for his expressive face, including his pink lips and large, almond-shaped eyes.
Nori has expressive, almond-shaped eyes and peach-colored skin and lips, which give him a distinctive appearance. This unique look has earned him the nickname “the dog with the human smile.” His owner, Tiffany Ngo, often humorously notes that Nori resembles a kindly old grandpa, a comparison that many people find fitting.
“The combination of his eye color, skin tone, and facial expressions contributes to his unique look. People often comment that he appears wise or human-like,” Tiffany said.
When Nori’s owners shared a photo of him on Twitter, it quickly went viral, receiving over 9,000 likes.
The owners mentioned that they shared Nori’s photo in response to a tweet about dogs with distinctive, human-like features. “We were definitely surprised when his photo went viral,” they said.
Since he was a puppy, Nori’s distinctive appearance has attracted attention.
“We often find people stopping us with questions about him whenever we’re out and about.”
“When Nori first joined our family, we frequently had people stopping us on walks to comment on his appearance. People compared him to characters like Chewbacca, Fizzgig from *The Dark Crystal*, and even Seth Rogen!”
Although Nori’s snout has lengthened over time, slightly altering his smile, his expressive eyes remain as captivating as ever.
According to Nori’s owners, his appearance has changed over time. “He used to be darker brown and had a curlier coat than he does now. People often comment that he looks like their grandfather, which means they must have very charming grandpas!”
Many people have wondered if Tiffany does anything special to enhance Nori’s unique appearance. She insists that it’s all natural.
“There’s no grooming or special treatments involved—it’s just Nori’s natural coloring and curls,” she says.
Nori isn’t the only standout in Tiffany’s household. He shares the spotlight with his brother Boba, a Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix.
Tiffany enjoys sharing the lives of Nori and Boba with others. “It’s rewarding to think that our little ones might bring some joy or positivity to someone else’s life, even in a small way,” she says.
“Nori is very sweet and friendly, with a lot of energy and a playful personality.”
Nori’s owners say he is friendly towards everyone he meets, both people and dogs, and enjoys making new friends.
