Kassidy M. and her partner returned home from vacation late on a Sunday night, exhausted from their travels, and went straight to bed. The following morning, they discovered a stray dog waiting for them in their backyard.
“We woke up that Monday, and as we were getting ready to start our day, we found him sitting quietly in the corner of our yard,” Kassidy told The Luzocn. The couple had no idea how long the dog had been there, and their neighbors were equally unaware of his presence or origins. Despite the mystery surrounding his arrival, the dog seemed content to have ended up in their yard.
“We’re dog lovers, so it didn’t take long for us to bond with him,” Kassidy said. “We showered him with affection, gave him cozy beds and blankets, and he quickly settled in and relaxed.” The dog, who they named Mr. Big Baby due to his gentle nature, was in poor condition with visible cuts and scars, suggesting he had been used in dog fighting. As days went by, it became clear that he was also unwell.
The vet prescribed antibiotics to treat his health issues, and once he started the medication, Mr. Big Baby’s transformation was remarkable. Before, he had been withdrawn and calm, but after starting the treatment, he became much more active and engaged. “It was like we had a new dog,” Kassidy said. “He started barking, playing with toys, and running around with us. His tail wagged constantly, and he showered us with affection.”
Initially, Mr. Big Baby arrived at their home in a state of defeat, but the love and care he received gave him a renewed sense of life. Recognizing that he needed a special family, the couple eventually found the perfect adoptive home for him. Seeing Mr. Big Baby thrive in his new environment inspired them to consider fostering more dogs in the future.
“This experience has motivated us to help more dogs in need,” Kassidy said. “We’re so grateful that Mr. Big Baby found us, and we look forward to continuing to support animal rescues.”
