She wagged her tail vigorously when they were finally reunited!
On a sweltering summer day in Los Angeles, California, Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, received an urgent call about a distressed white dog found sleeping in a parking lot. Though she was alert, the poor pup refused to move from her spot.
Hall and her volunteers, Mary Nakiso and Rosario Ortiz, arrived to find the dog in the same spot where she had been reported. They were disheartened to see how the dog, clearly in pain and exhaustion, was still lying there.
“When I got there, she was lying still, seemingly enduring the pain with great courage,” Hall shared on Facebook. The team wasn’t certain about the dog’s past or how long she had been in the parking lot, but they quickly set up baby gates around her to contain the area and began their rescue attempt.
The frightened dog limped into the busy street, trying to evade her rescuers. However, Hall’s calm demeanor and gentle approach helped her gain the dog’s trust.
“I spoke to her gently and managed to get a leash around her neck,” Hall wrote. “She was very sweet and clearly relieved to receive help.”
Hall then transported the dog to Camino Pet Hospital, where she was examined and found to have a broken leg, likely due to a car accident. The medical team treated her injuries, applied a cast, and worked with Hall to locate her original family.
Soon, Hall was able to track down the dog’s mom and learn more about the situation. “She had been missing for six days,” Hall wrote on Facebook.
The dog, named Maisie, had wandered away from home and, unable to return, had taken refuge in the parking lot after her accident, waiting for her family to find her. Maisie’s mom was overjoyed to discover her dog was safe and quickly rushed to the hospital for the reunion.
The moment Maisie saw her mom, it was an emotional scene for everyone present. “Maisie was incredibly happy to see her mother, and her mother was equally thrilled to have her back,” Hall wrote. “It was a beautiful, heartwarming reunion.”
Maisie’s tail wagged furiously as she showered her mother with affection. After almost losing hope of being reunited, Maisie was elated to finally be in her mom’s arms.

Meanwhile, those involved in her rescue, including the compassionate volunteers, take comfort in the successful reunion they helped make possible. “I still have tears of joy,” Hall wrote.
