Loyal Rescue Dog Won’t Leave His Blind Owner’s Side

On a rainy day in rural Kentucky, Adonis and Titan, a pair of abandoned bully mixes, were desperately searching for shelter. The father-and-son duo were nearly hopeless when they came across a house that seemed to offer refuge.

The homeowner noticed the distressed dogs at her door and, upon opening it, welcomed them inside. “They were found starving and weak, seeking shelter from the storm,” the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance (BDRA) wrote on their website. “The kind woman who opened her door gave them a much-needed place to stay.”

It soon became clear how deeply these dogs relied on each other. Adonis, estimated to be around 9-10 years old and blind, was the father of Titan, who is about 3 years old. Titan had been assisting his father and stayed by his side through their struggles.

When a local animal shelter arrived to collect the dogs, the staff and volunteers quickly became fond of them. However, due to limited space, the shelter reached out to BDRA for help in finding a foster home for the pair.

Despite their physical issues, such as broken teeth and leg scars, and their nervousness about having their heads touched, Adonis and Titan showed signs of having been loved at some point. BDRA knew they would thrive in a foster home, provided they stayed together.

“They are very bonded and get anxious when apart,” BDRA noted. “They often share a large dog bed and have a deep connection.”

Fortunately, BDRA found a perfect foster home with Jennifer Hill, who welcomed Adonis and Titan warmly. “They take turns cuddling,” Hill told The Dodo. “They are sweet and goofy, and they make me laugh every day. They’re just so happy.”

Although Adonis and Titan remained close in their foster home, they gradually grew more comfortable exploring their environment independently. “Titan used to be very protective of Adonis, but now he’s more relaxed,” Hill said. “He can enjoy playtime outside without constantly checking on his dad.”

Despite this newfound independence, their bond remains strong. “When Titan got sprayed by a skunk and we had to separate them for a bath, Adonis howled the entire time,” Hill recalled. “And when Adonis went outside in a rainstorm, Titan stayed by the door, worried until he came back.”

Titan will always be protective of his father, and Adonis feels most secure with Titan nearby. Now that they’ve experienced a loving home, they no longer have to rely solely on each other for comfort.

“Adonis and Titan have endured tough times but hold no grudges,” BDRA wrote. “They are ready to find a home with someone who understands bully breeds and their unique personalities, and who will appreciate their enthusiastic and loving nature.”
