Over the weekend, East Los Angeles residents stumbled upon a curious sight: a fluffy white head occasionally emerging from a narrow gap between two garages. Each time they turned their attention to the crevice, the head would vanish, leaving the neighbors puzzled.
Upon closer inspection, they discovered their worst fear: a young pup was living in the tight space between the garages. The small dog, likely under a year old, was wedged between two concrete slabs. While he could wriggle out on his own, the gap was far too small for a human to access.
Terrified, the dog retreated deeper into the crevice to avoid the concerned neighbors. They began leaving food in hopes of coaxing him out, but the moment they left, he grabbed the food and darted to another hidden spot.
After several unsuccessful attempts to rescue the dog, the neighbors reached out to Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, for assistance. When Hall and her team arrived, they were taken aback by how little space there was between the walls and struggled to understand how the pup had managed to fit.
“It was so difficult to even reach him,” Hall shared on Facebook. “The space was incredibly tight.” Despite offering high-value treats, the pup only ate when the rescuers hid in a nearby bush, never approaching the trap directly.
The team then shifted tactics, using a long tree branch to guide the dog closer to the opening. When he was near enough, Hall managed to slip a snare leash around his neck and carefully pulled him to safety.

The dog was then transported to Camino Pet Hospital, where he enjoyed a much-needed nap in front of the air conditioning. Hall named him Casper, inspired by his ghostly white coat and his elusive nature.
At the vet, Casper received a thorough checkup and a refreshing spa treatment. That evening, after a new haircut, he settled into his new life with enthusiasm. “He’s doing so well,” Hall noted. “He was initially very scared, but now he’s rolling over for belly rubs and loving all the attention. He’s just so sweet.”
Casper is heading to a foster family this week, but he is still in search of a permanent home. With his endearing personality and the persistence of those who cared for him, Hall is confident that the perfect family will come along soon.
“He’s truly a little miracle,” Hall said. “He’s so lucky that someone noticed him hiding behind that wall.”
