Saved from the Snow: The Heartwarming Story of Koki’s Rescue and New Beginning
Unfortunately, some people are unaware of how to properly care for their pets and may not realize that animals have feelings too. This was the case for Koki, a brave dog abandoned by his owners and left to fend for himself in the bitter cold.
Fortunately, Koki’s story took a turn for the better when Stoya and his wife Dessy discovered him while on their way to a grocery store. They noticed Koki limping through the snow with an injured leg, appearing hopeless and in distress. Moved by his plight, the couple wrapped him in a blanket to keep him warm and decided to take him in.
“The temperature was freezing, and we felt we had to help,” Stoya shared on their YouTube channel, PawMeow. This wasn’t their first rescue; they had previously saved four cats in Bulgaria and were dedicated to helping more animals in need.
Although Stoya and Dessy typically rescue cats, they knew they couldn’t leave Koki behind. Without their intervention, his chances of surviving the harsh conditions were slim. Initially, Koki was wary and resistant to human contact, particularly hesitant about letting them tend to his injured leg.
Everything changed when the couple offered Koki a sausage. The treat seemed to break down his barriers. “I think in that moment he realized we meant him no harm,” Stoya continued. “His eyes were filled with hope.”
Koki’s suffering finally came to an end as he found his forever home. While Stoya and Dessy cared for Koki, they also sought a suitable permanent home for him. They posted about Koki on social media, and the response was overwhelming. “We were surprised by the amount of interest,” the couple said. “There were more than 30 adoption requests. We chose carefully, and Koki will be going to a Russian woman who lives 200 km away and has another small breed dog.”
Thanks to the kindness of Stoya, Dessy, and the many people who showed interest in adopting Koki, he can now enjoy a new chapter in his life, filled with love and care.
