We treated our pittie, who was abandoned in the woods, to a luxurious glamping getaway.

THURSDAY

12 P.M. The day before our glamping trip to Big Bear, Maya, our rescue pittie, seems to sense the excitement. We need to ensure she stays warm in the cold November air, so we visit a pet store and try on several jackets. We finally choose a blue one that fits her perfectly.

3 P.M. We pack for our weekend getaway, making sure to include plenty of food for Maya, matching pajamas for us all, extra blankets, and Maya’s new jacket. Although we’ve only had Maya for a few months, we want to make this trip special for her, considering her rough past being rescued from the woods.

FRIDAY

10 A.M. We leave Los Angeles early and drive a few hours to Big Bear. Maya enjoys the ride, settling into her car spot comfortably as she did from the first day we adopted her.

1 P.M. Upon arrival, we explore the site with Maya, who takes in the mountain views, the trees, and all the new smells. Our cabin has a large bed and big windows, allowing Maya to enjoy the scenery even from inside. The cabin company has provided treats and water bowls, making Maya feel right at home.

5 P.M. As the temperature drops, we start a campfire. Maya has her own cozy spot by the fire, warming up nicely.

10 P.M. With no space for a separate dog bed in the cabin, Maya ends up snuggling with us in the big, comfortable bed, much to her delight.

SATURDAY

10 A.M. We set out for a hike, Maya’s first ever. She’s thrilled, running up and down the trail and sniffing everything around her. The snow is another new experience for her, making this a day full of firsts.

1 P.M. After the hike, we head into town. Maya greets people and other dogs and gets to try her very first puppuccino at a coffee shop, which she enjoys immensely. Now, whenever she sees a coffee cup, she gets excited, hoping for another treat.

5 P.M. We repeat our campfire routine for our second and last night in the cabin. The trip has flown by, and we’re not ready for it to end.

10 P.M. Back in our big bed, Maya finds her spot between us, just as she did the previous night.

SUNDAY

11 A.M. It’s time to pack up and head home. We let Maya sniff around the cabin one last time before we leave.

5 P.M. At home, Maya greets us with lots of kisses. While she’s sad that the trip is over, she’s happy to be back.

10 P.M. On our first night back, Maya crawls into bed with us, as she’s become accustomed to since the trip. She’s been sleeping with us ever since, and we’ve never looked back.
